Detectors
- Detectors, within the physical security and safety context, are electronic observation devices that are capable of detecting persons or situations that have defeated security measures to gain access to or harm: property, resources, or data of an organization without proper authorization.
- Most Detectors are perceived to be hidden electronic sensors that are always idle unless they are triggered by intrusion (e.g. glass window break-ins), the physical movement or motion of a body mass at the wrong time in a specific location (e.g. inside a closed-down mall at night), or by sensing fire or smoke inside a facility.
- Once an incident is detected, the security detector would immediately alert the organization authority of the incident. This alert is trnasmitted in many ways, for example: the detector would sound off an alarm, send data to a computer, send an SMS message, or simply lock all facility doors to trap in an intruder.
